zu Wittgensteins Whewell’s Court Lectures, Cambridge 1938-1941
Vom 30. März bis 1. April 2015 findet an der AAU Klagenfurt ein Kolloquium zu Wittgensteins noch unpublizierten Whewell’s Court Lectures, Cambridge 1938-1941 statt. Das Ziel des Kolloquiums soll einerseits die Kontextualisierung der Whewell’s Court Lectures innerhalb des Nachlasses und der publizierten Schriften sein, andererseits die Klärung ihrer Beziehungen zu den Autoren, die Wittgenstein bespricht. Diese Autoren sind insbesondere Bertrand Russell, G. E. Moore, Kurt Gödel, William James, W. E. Johnson, David Hume, aber auch Yorick Smythies, der die Vorlesungen mitgeschrieben hat. Ein Kapitel der Vorlesungen besteht aus einer Antwort Wittgensteins auf einen Vortrag von Smythies („Wittgenstein’s Reply to a Paper by Y. Smythies on ‚Understanding‘ „).

on Wittgenstein’s Whewell’s Court Lectures, Cambridge 1938-1941
A book colloquium on Wittgenstein’s Whewell’s Court Lectures, Cambridge 1938–1941 will take place from 30 March to 1 April at the AAU Klagenfurt, Austria. The edition of these unpublished lectures is based on notes taken by Yorick Smythies (1917-1980), who served as a major source for earlier publications of Wittgenstein’s lectures. The aim of the book colloquium is, on the one hand, to contextualise the Whewell’s Court Lectures within Wittgenstein’s Nachlass and published writings, and on the other hand, to clarify their relationship to the authors discussed in the lectures, including Bertrand Russell, G. E. Moore, Kurt Gödel, William James, W. E. Johnson, David Hume, but also Yorick Smythies, the note-taker (see „Wittgenstein’s Reply to a Paper by Y. Smythies on ‚Understanding'“).
